Chris Boalch is Acting Director at Investment New Zealand.

Background and expertise

Dr Chris Boalch was born and educated in the UK where he studied Environmental Science and completed a PhD at Dundee University, Scotland. He has extensive experience in the area of technology transfer and commercialisation of research.

His early career was spent in geophysics and science programme management with the UK Natural Environment Research Council. Chris has subsequently held senior positions with the British National Space Centre, working on a number of international satellite technology and application programmes; with the UK Department of Trade and Industry; and with QinetiQ, Europe's largest commercial R&D organisation.

Chris moved to New Zealand with his family in 2003 where he joined New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE). Prior to taking on the role of Acting Director, Investment New Zealand, he held the position of Sector Director for Biotechnology for NZTE.
